India Vaccinates More Than 10 Million People Against Coronavirus For The Third Time In Eleven Days

Indian Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Monday that for the third time in eleven days, health authorities have vaccinated more than ten million people against the coronavirus.

Mandaviya has celebrated on his Twitter profile that September has started in India “on a high note”, in relation to the number of people who have received the vaccine in a single day, some 10.5 million, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Health , waiting for them to be finally updated this Tuesday.

The states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar lead the highest vaccination rates in the last 24 hours. Both regions, with a significant proportion of the population over 60 years of age, had suffered further delays in their respective vaccination plans, especially with regard to the second dose.

India had achieved the daily record of doses administered on August 31, when 10.4 million were inoculated. Four days earlier it exceeded ten million for the first time.

To date, according to health authorities, more than 532 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, of which there are more than 163 million who already have the full schedule.

In contrast, India continues to be the second country hardest hit by the pandemic, with more than 33 million accumulated cases, almost 39,000 this Monday, although 32.1 million have already managed to overcome the disease.

On the other hand, more than 440,000 people have died, while another 404,000 continue to receive medical treatment.
